CABUYA | Where does it come from.
Born in Colombian.
Study Visual Arts at the Miami International University of Art & Design and have a Masters in Communication Design at IED Madrid.
I interpret the mystery, the humor and the threat of my dreams. I collect and compare bits of disparate material, creating my own order. The mixture of different elements and materials from Colombia and the globe, lead me to express my world and point of view, creating pieces that deal with the ideas of time, death and decay, transformation, beauty, universal mystery, regret, permanence and memory. Life by itself drives me to create, however the connection I have with nature is highly important in my art, I take materials and elements, and combine them to express what is inside me. The material I use in my work is highly important; Cabuya, an organic material taken by a Colombian plant, Fique.
What is important for me, is that I can communicate human basic emotions with my art, that people can have and feel different experiences with a piece, moving by their relationships with the shape and color.
