CUCHI TABORDA

VENEZUELA

Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, Cuchi always had a penchant for handicrafts from a young age, developing special attention to art made from yarns and textiles. Later on, she immigrated to the United States, where she enrolled in may art courses, but one in particular made a significant impact on her career: a jewelry course. This course led her to a love for metals. While also a sculptor’s wife, she was exposed to different forms and techniques using metals in art. This exposure gave her the desire to integrate textiles with metals, thus giving shape to a beautiful experience that connects and interacts with elements as dissimilar as cotton threads and aluminum.
